Accountancy
Course Description
CBSE Accountancy teaches students how financial transactions of a business are systematically recorded, classified, summarised and interpreted. The subject begins by developing an understanding of basic accounting concepts, principles and the accounting process. Students learn how transactions are recorded and how different accounting records work together to produce meaningful financial information. Preparation of financial statements helps learners understand the profit, performance and financial position of an organisation. As students progress, they study more advanced areas connected with partnership firms, companies and other forms of accounting situations. Concepts such as goodwill, reconstitution of partnership, share capital and financial statement analysis develop a deeper understanding of business finance. Ratio analysis and cash flow-related concepts help students move from simply preparing accounts to actually interpreting financial information. Numerical problems build accuracy, logical thinking and systematic presentation. Each accounting adjustment teaches students how one financial event can affect different parts of the accounts. Regular practice develops speed as well as confidence in solving practical problems. Accountancy therefore creates a strong foundation for higher studies and careers in commerce, finance, taxation, banking, management and professional courses such as CA and other accounting-related fields.
