Course Description

Book-Keeping & Accountancy is one of the core subjects of the Maharashtra State Board Commerce stream and provides students with a practical understanding of business accounting. The subject explains how financial transactions are identified, recorded, classified and summarised in a systematic manner. Students learn the accounting process and understand the purpose of maintaining proper books and financial records. Practical problems develop the ability to prepare accounts accurately and understand the effect of different transactions. Students progressively deal with various business and organisational accounting situations, making the subject increasingly application-oriented. Partnership accounting helps learners understand financial adjustments arising from changes in the relationship between partners. Other areas introduce students to accounting for different types of organisations and financial transactions. Final accounts and related statements help students determine financial performance and position. The subject requires a combination of conceptual understanding, numerical accuracy and proper presentation.
