Course Description

Maharashtra State Board Economics introduces students to the fundamental ideas that explain how an economy functions. The subject studies the behaviour of individuals, consumers, producers, markets and different economic institutions. Students learn how limited resources are utilised to satisfy various human wants and how economic choices are made. Concepts related to demand, supply, markets, income, money and economic activities help students understand events they regularly observe around them. The course also develops awareness of broader economic matters connected with national development and public economic activities. Students learn to interpret economic relationships through examples, numerical information, diagrams and logical explanation. Economic concepts are connected with practical situations involving prices, production, employment, consumption and government activities.
